2013 is really a
year of musical comebacks. Not only we get to see the return of Justin
Timberlake, the upcoming singles of Lady Gaga, Beyonce, and Britney Spears, but
two familiar boybands are on their way as well!
98
Degrees’ latest track has surfaced the web. This time,
the band took a route of a dance-pop genre as this track has a trace of
Europop. This track will be included in their upcoming album “2.0”. This may be
a double-entrendre track (which I think it's really about their ding-a-ling-ding-dongs); I think it’s still good pop track. Check their song
out:
New
Kids On The Block is coming back, too! Their latest
track “Now Or Never”, produced by bandmember Joey McIntyre, consists
of guitar tunes, hip-hop beats and electro pop synths. Check their song out:

Rapper Flo-Rida has
just released a new version of his latest track, “Sweet Spot”, and this time,
featuring May J, a Pop Singer in Japan.
While the original version (featuring
the vocals of Jennifer Lopez) lasts for 3 minutes and 12 seconds, the new
version lasts for about 3 minutes and 52 seconds.
The May J. version
is now made available in iTunes Japan.
While J.Lo’s
version features her vocals in a sweet yet sultry way, May J’s was still sweet
yet sounded like a femme bot. I prefer J. Lo’s version but I like May J’s too.
Check out this version featuring the vocals of May J:
And now, compare it
to the original version, featuring J.Lo’s vocals:
So, the question is, Who sang it better?
J.Lo or May J?

Is collaborating with famous pop stars the
latest trend among rappers? Seems like it. When Will.I.Am joined forces with Britney
Spears for “Scream & Shout” made
a huge impact, Pitbull followed suite, having Christina Aguilera for their
track “Feel This Moment”.
This time, Flo-Rida releases his new single with Jennifer Lopez, for his track “Sweet
Spot” from the album “Wild Ones”.
The lyric video of the song had surfaced last year;
however there was no follow-up if it’ll be released, not until recently. The
track is now titled “Sweet Spot 2.0” featuring Jennifer Lopez’s
sweet and catchy hook and an addictive beat.
The dance-club track lasted for 3 minutes and 12
seconds while the album version is a bit longer, running for 3 minutes and 48
seconds. The lyrics described as seductive as J.Lo belts out the lyrics:
Let's hit the sweet spot
I'm ready to go
I want candy tonight
It
is a good dance-club track that makes us want to move along to. Giving this
track a 3.5 out of 5, go ahead and check the song out!

Everything Is
Not What It Seems
A
Review of
Disney’s The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex
By
Bonne Appetit
Cast: Selena Gomez, Jake T. Austin, Jennifer Stone,
Greg Sulkin
Directed by: Victor
Gonzalez
Synopsis: The Russo
family and friends are headed to Tuscany, Italy, to meet their long lost
relatives... but when Alex tries to prove she's more than a seemingly carefree
young Wizard, she inadvertently conjures a spell that creates a Good Alex and
an Evil Alex. When Evil Alex gets roped into a charming young wizard's
foreboding plan to take over the world, Good Alex must find a way to save her
family and humankind, which leads to a monumental battle between the two
versions of herself - all atop the Tower of Pisa.
Review:
The Russo’s are back
to charm us for the last time, as Alex Russo’s (Selena Gomez) carefree spirit
brought dilemmas that could end the race of mortal humans. We get to see the
same old cast but with the absence of Justin Russo (David Henrie), Alex’s older
brother.
The Wizards Return:
Alex vs. Alex is the second TV movie for the
defunct Disney show, The Wizards of Waverly Place. When Alex had magically
eliminates her rude side out, she incidentally brought crisis as she split herself
into two and conjured a fully evil Alex Russo. It was up to her (the Good Alex)
to save the world from her evil self, who was gaining help from a friend turned
traitor.
Victor Gonzalez’
direction was good comparing to the very first The Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie. The first scene towards
the Crystals of Justice is so beautifully crafted, and all of the special
effects are neat.
The costumes maintain
the elements of their characters, citing Harper’s (Jennifer Stone) Lady
Gaga-ish style of dresses. Although the bad Alex’s costume was totally wicked,
they could have done better for the Good Alex’s character.
Cinematography wise, the
scenes were as not as theatrical as the first Wizards movie, however, it was good to see that they have managed
to re-use their original set, with the fact that the TV show ended more than a
year ago.
While a lot of fans
of the show may consider this TV movie fantastic and nostalgic, the storyline
is a bit bland. The storyline diminishes the serious tone from the first movie,
and added more comedic lines, which some of them are kind of cheesy. To put a
cherry on top, the laugh track makes the TV movie very annoying. Everything happened so fast that the momentum is not even that satisfying. However, the fight scene between the Good and the Bad Alex was awesome.
Jennifer Stone’s portrayal
of Harper Finkle is exceptional. The
rest of the cast are excellent as well, however, with Selena Gomez, there are
some parts that she’s really good, and some parts that are odd, especially when
Alex flung her wand after failing to reach her brother through her wand phone.
The “Ryan Gosling” part, however, did make me laugh; pointing out that she’s
natural when it comes to comedy.
The TV movie ran only
for roughly 60 minutes, but despite the minor faults, it was absolutely great
to see the casts of Wizards once
again.

This French beat
genius never quits! (And why would he?) David
Guetta releases a new version of his latest track “Play Hard” featuring Ne-Yo & Akon. The track is included
in Guetta’s album, “Nothing But the Beats
2.0”. The new version is waaay better than the album version, to be honest.
The song features "Better Off Alone" by Alice Deejay and DJ Jurgen, marking
it as Guetta’s ninth single that has been released from this album.
Put on your
headphones and let this beat rock your world for 3:29!

And the battle for
this year’s top spot on the charts is still on! Beyonce a.k.a. Sasha Fierce is back with a brand new single for her
yet untitled album. The said is track entitled, “Bow Down” which makes her a bit too much of a diva, right? Well, she deserves to have the crown
for the RnB Diva.
But for me, the
song was worse than “Run the World”.
But maybe, it’ll grow on us? The track lasted for 3:34 had B ee's fans divided if they give it a thumbs or nada.
For now, I give it 2.5
out of 5. Check out the song below, you’ll be the judge.
Check out the unpitched version as well:

Hey Journal!
It has always been
my dream to create a show and to express my love for media arts. (That’s why I produced
those podcasts, “Britney: In The Mix”, “Lady Gaga Central” and “PHB: The
Podcast” in the first place.) And this year, I finally had a chance to make our
own docu, and this time, it’s for our ETHICS class, with the topic of
Premarital Sex.
With the help of my
ever-intellectual teammates, we’ve come up with a show format that we can use up
until we graduate.
The name of the
show is BLANK PAGE. It’s some sort
of a documentary program that may have i-Witness,
The Correspondents and Reporter’s Notebook, a run for their
money. Of course, since we’re amateurs, everything still seems…amateur.
Filming it was
soooo fun! After days of shooting, storyboard making, video editing, and
dubbing, our final product’s ready.

My inner Selenator in me is cheering! Selena Gomez
is back with a new track titled “Rule The World” for her fourth
upcoming album! This upbeat track was waaaay better than her songs in her first
two albums.
As Selena betls out
the songs’ lyrics:
Our love was made to
rule the world,
You came and broke
the perfect girl
rumor has it that it was meant for her ex-girlfriend boyfriend, Justin Bieber.
Hmmmm.

There’s no denying that I adore Pop music. From bubblegum pop to pop rock, anything that’s catchy enough gets into my taste. These past few weeks, I have been searching the web for some late 90’s Pop Hits when I came across Aqua’s classic “Turn Back Time”.
I was way young
when “Barbie Girl” became their smash
hit along with “Dr. Jones”, and “Mr. Candyman”. I was wondering where
they were and googled them out.
I found out that
their last album release was 2011, an album titled “Megalomania” with “How R
Doin?” as the carrier single. Although it didn’t do well, their plan
to release a follow-up/international single titled “Like A Robot” was set but soon scraped.
Upon hearing the
track, it could’ve been a potential hit, with the beats and rhythm that can
match David Guetta’s or any other pop stars these days. Yeah it’s sad that this
song wasn’t released but I effin’ love this track’s hook and its catchy chorus!
Push Play and tell
me whatcha think of the song:
